The final plan replaces two buildings, constructs an addition on a third, reconfigures drives and walkways, makes better use of open spaces, thins or adds vegetation, and increases ADA accessibility.
Academy of the Pacific Master Plan
The four-acre campus of the Academy of the Pacific is in a residential neighborhood on Alewa Heights in Honolulu, and the random arrangement of its thirteen buildings, many of them former residences, provides an informal, comfortable surroundings for its 150 students.
As the first step in the Academy's long-range plan to improve the campus, Mason Architects prepared a Conceptual Master Plan to guide each future phase of work, striving to improve functionality yet retain the residential scale and atmosphere of the campus.
Mason Architects
reviewed all relevant plans and documents
prepared floor plans of existing buildings
met with staff and administration to determine
needs
investigated planning constraints on the site
prepared site plans showing new or renovated facilities.
The Master Plan also summarizes the existing condition of the buildings, analyzes their functionality, recommends replacements or improvements, and provides architectural guidelines for new construction.
