From the entry, one passes through bronze-framed doors to the two-story atrium and views of the ocean beyond.
Wailea Residence
In the arrangement of the rooms, the materials used -- bronze, wood, stone, tile, glass -- and in the zero-tolerance fit and detailing of every cabinet, door frame, and stair, the owners and designers shared a single vision for the two-story, 8000-square-foot home on the beach in Wailea, Maui.
- Bronze-framed doors lead from the entry to the home's two-story atrium.
- Two master suites on the second floor adjoin a common library, which opens onto a balcony overlooking the ocean.
- The ground floor houses separate offices for the owners, a living room, media room, bar, and kitchen with a walk-in pantry.
- In a second building, two guest bedrooms sit above a garage and utility room.
- The home's roof of glazed clay tiles, walls of concrete and masonry sheathed in natural-finish plaster, and cast stone elements are in harmony with its beach location.
