From the covered lanai, the residents look out on Haleakala or the ocean offshore of Kamaole Beach Parks.

Moana Estates

Moana Estates is located on 28 acres above Kihei on Maui's south shore. Its 90 mountain- or ocean-view lots range from 7,600 to 13,500 square feet. An open grassy swale runs through the estates and into a park with soccer field and comfort station.

Single-family homes are a blend of one and two stories with three or four bedrooms. Some include ohana units with bedroom, bathroom, and separate entrance. The twelve different models range in size from 2,350 to 3,700 square feet. Mason Architects designed the homes for Towne Development of Hawaii.

  • Their contemporary Hawaiian style includes wide eaves, covered lanais, and trellis walls to take advantage of the prevailing tradewinds for ventilation.
  • Each home has solar water heating, thermal insulation, and eco-friendly slate or shake style roofing made from recycled rubber, and participates in the Energy Star program.
  • Buildable areas are sited to protect open space corridors, roadways meander gracefully through the development, and utility lines are underground.
  • Houses maintain deep and varying setbacks and the roof and wall colors blend with the environment.
