Ludwig Residence
The owner of a 1930s home purchased the lot
next door to it in Hilo, Hawaii. Mason Architects' master plan, implemented
over a number of years, unified the two lots into an architectural whole.
- A guesthouse was built on the adjacent lot and linked to the main house
by a stone-and-concrete lanai, which encloses a fountain.
- The guesthouse was designed in the same 1930s style as the family home
and serves as an indoor/outdoor place to entertain guests.
- In a later phase of construction within the master plan, a carport was
added and improvements made to the original house.
